Learning to Read the Quran Correctly at Deen Axis Academy

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu.

My dear respected brothers, my respected sisters, my beloved children who are listening to me right now.

Today I want to talk to you about something very basic, but wallahi, very very important. Something that is the foundation of our relationship with Allah's Book. I want to talk about Nazirah.

What is Nazirah? My dear brothers and sisters, Nazirah means to read the Quran by looking at it. To see the words and to read them correctly. This is the first step. Before you become a Hafiz, before you learn deep Tajweed, before you learn Tafseer, you have to be able to read the Quran correctly by looking at it. This is Nazirah.

And I am telling you honestly today, this is where our Ummah is lacking the most. I travel, I meet families in Pulwama, in Bandipora, in Handwara, in Bijbehara, in Anantnag. I meet mothers who are 40 years old, 50 years old, and they tell me with tears, "Rehan Sahib, we cannot read the Quran properly. We feel ashamed. We want to read but we never got the chance."

And I meet our youth, our college going boys and girls. They can read English novels fluently, they can read Urdu newspapers fluently, but when you give them the Mushaf, they get stuck. They stutter. They cannot differentiate between Seen and Suad, between Zaa and Zau, between Qaf and Kaaf.

My dear brothers and sisters, this is a dangerous situation. Because if our Nazirah is not correct, our Salah is not correct. And if our Salah is not correct, what are we doing?

The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, the one who reads the Quran fluently will be with the noble angels. And the one who reads with difficulty, who stutters, who struggles, but still keeps trying, Allah gives him double reward. Double reward. One for reading, one for struggling. So my dear sisters who are struggling, do not think you are failing. Your struggling itself is an ibadah. But you have to start. You have to try to correct it.

That is why we at Deen Axis Academy started this Nazirah Course. We said we need to bring back that old Maktab system. Do you remember, when we were kids, we used to go to the local Masjid, sit in front of the Ustaad, knee to knee, and read Qaida? That system is almost finished now. Kids go to school, then tuition, then they are tired. Parents are busy. And for our sisters, it is even more difficult to find a good female teacher who can teach them at home with proper purdah and respect.

So we at Deen Axis Academy decided, we will bring that Maktab to your mobile phone. A proper Maktab, with discipline, with love, with a teacher who listens to you.

Now who is this course for? I will tell you very clearly. This course is for everyone who says, "I want to correct my Quran reading."

Number one, if you are a complete beginner. You do not know Alif, Baa, Taa. You never read Qaida. We will start you from zero. From Noorani Qaida. We will teach you every single letter with its Makhraj, where it comes from, from the throat, from the tongue, from the lips.

Number two, this course is for those who read a little bit, but they read very slowly. They do one page in 15 minutes. They spell every word. We will make you fluent, InshaAllah. Our target is that after this course, you will be able to read one page of the Quran in 4 to 5 minutes with confidence.

Number three, this course is for those who read daily but they know they are making mistakes in Tajweed. They know their Ghunna is not correct, their Qalqala is missing, their Madd is not proper. We will correct it.

Number four, this course is for our housewives, our mothers, our working brothers. We have made the timings very easy. You do not have to leave your home. You can join from your kitchen, from your room. We have female teachers for our female students, so you can read comfortably.

And number five, this course is especially for those kids and adults who want to become Hafiz in the future. My dear brother, my dear sister, you cannot do Hifz if your Nazirah is weak. Hifz built on weak Nazirah will always be weak. So first, make your Nazirah strong.

Now I want to tell you how we teach at Deen Axis Academy. We have a method. We do not just open the Quran and say read. We have a proper system.

In the first month, we focus only on your Qaida. We will make your Makharij 100 percent correct. What is Makhraj? It is the place from where a letter comes out. Alif comes from the empty space of the mouth, Baa comes from the lips, Qaf comes from the back of the tongue touching the soft palate. If you do not know this, you will read the Quran with Lahen-e-Jali, with major mistakes that change the meaning. We cannot allow that.

Then after one month, we move you to Juz Amma, the 30th Juz. Why Juz Amma? Because it has short Surahs. Surah An-Naba, Surah An-Nazi'at, Surah Abasa. When a student reads a full Surah in one day, he gets confidence. He feels happy. We use that happiness to build his fluency.

Then from the third month onwards, we start you from Surah Al-Baqarah. And our goal is that you will complete one full Nazirah Khatm of the Quran with your teacher listening to you. Your teacher will listen to your full Khatm. Imagine the reward for you and for your teacher.

And finally, in the last two months, we teach you advanced Tajweed. All the rules of Noon Sakin, Meem Sakin, Qalqala, Madd Muttasil, Madd Munfasil, Madd Lazim, rules of stopping, Waqf signs. And then we take your final exam. In that exam, we will open any page from the Quran randomly and you have to read it. If you pass, you get the certificate from Deen Axis Academy.

My dear brothers and sisters, this is not just a certificate on paper. This is a testimony that you can now read the Book of Allah correctly. What bigger certificate can there be?

Now many people ask me, what is the syllabus exactly? I will tell you in detail.

We have divided this course into four levels. Level one is Qaida Mastery. This is one month. In this one month we cover the entire Noorani Qaida with all Harakaat, all Tanween, all Sukoon, Shaddah, Noon Sakin and Meem Sakin introduction.

Level two is Fluency Builder. This is month two and three. Here we make you read Juz Amma. We focus on your speed and your flow. We also teach you the Waqf signs. Where to stop, where not to stop, which stop is compulsory, which stop is optional. This is very important because wrong stopping can change the meaning of the Ayah.

Level three is Full Mushaf Reading. This is month four, five and six. Here you read from Surah Baqarah to Surah Naas completely with your teacher.

Level four is Tajweed Refinement. This is month seven and eight. Here we polish your Tajweed and prepare you for the final exam.

Along with this, every student also memorizes the last ten Surahs and daily Masnoon Duas. This is a gift from Deen Axis Academy to all our students.

Now I want to talk to you about something very important, which is the fee structure. Listen to this carefully.

My dear brothers and sisters, when we started Deen Axis Academy, we made a promise to Allah that we will not make Deen expensive. Today many online academies are charging 2000 rupees per month, 3000 rupees per month for Quran teaching. A poor family cannot afford it. A family with three daughters cannot afford it. We said no, we will keep it so cheap that every home can afford it.

So for our Nazirah Course, we have kept a very simple fee structure.

The admission fee is only 800 rupees. Only 800 rupees one time. When you pay this 800 rupees, your seat is confirmed, you get your digital Qaida, your ID card, your batch is allotted, your initial assessment is done. This is a one-time fee.

And the monthly fee is only 300 rupees per month. Yes, you heard it right. Only 300 rupees per month. In this 300 rupees, you get your daily live classes for 45 minutes, five days a week, your personal teacher who corrects you on WhatsApp, your weekly tests, your monthly progress report, and access to all class recordings. There is no extra exam fee, no certificate fee, nothing hidden.

Only 800 rupees admission fee and 300 rupees per month. We kept it at 300 rupees so that a mother can say, I will cut my 300 rupees expense and spend it on my Quran. A father can say, I can easily afford 300 rupees for my daughter's Quran education.

And listen, if someone is an orphan, if someone is very poor, if someone really cannot afford even 300 rupees, please contact us personally. Wallahi, we will never reject a student because of money. We have a Zakat and scholarship fund for such students. This is Deen, this is not a business. We will teach you for free if you are deserving. But do not leave the Quran because of money.

We keep only 15 students in one batch. Why? Because if we keep 50 students, the teacher cannot listen to everyone. In 15 students, every student gets a chance to read daily. So seats are limited. Admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Now I want to tell you why you should choose Deen Axis Academy. What is special about us?

First, our teachers. Our teachers are not just random Qaris. They have Ijazah. They have permission to teach. And more importantly, they have patience. They have Tarbiyah. They will not shout at you if you make the same mistake ten times. They will correct you with love, eleventh time also.

You pay it happily because you want your child to get good marks in Duniya. But what about Aakhirah? What about the book that will intercede for your child on the Day of Qiyamah? Will you not spend 300 rupees for that? Think about it.

And my dear sisters who are listening to me, who feel shy that at this age you do not know how to read the Quran. My sister, do not feel shy. This shyness is from Shaitan. Shaitan wants you to stay away from the Quran because you feel shy. At Deen Axis Academy, we will never judge you. Your Ustadha will be like your sister, like your mother. She will hold your hand and teach you. Many sisters started crying on the first day and now they are reading fluently. You can also do it.

And my dear brothers, who lead prayers in the Masjid, but you know your Qira'ah has mistakes. My brother, please correct it today. Because if you lead prayer with wrong Qira'ah, and the meaning changes, you are taking a big responsibility. Come and correct your Nazirah. It is never too late.
