The Ruling on Giving and Taking Interest (Riba)

My dear brothers and sister listen carefully to this very important ruling.

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) cursed the one who takes interest, the one who gives interest, the one who writes the interest transaction, and its two witnesses. And He said: 

They are all equal (in sin)."

So my dear brothers, look at how serious this matter is. Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) did not just curse the one who is eating interest, but everyone who is involved in it.

My friends, what is Riba? In Arabic, Riba means excess. In Urdu we call it Sood. It is that extra amount which is taken without any exchange.

And O my beloved ones, Allah Himself has declared this excess as Haram. Allah says in the Quran - Translation: "Those who eat Riba will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitan leading him to insanity." Why will this happen to them? Because they said, "Trade is just like Riba." Whereas Allah has made trade Halal and has made Riba Haram. So the one to whom advice has come from his Lord and he stops...

...then whatever he has taken before is his, and his inner matter is with Allah. But my brothers, listen to this next part - and whoever returns to it again, then such people are the dwellers of Hell. They will remain in it forever.

My dear brothers and sisters, our scholars say that this Hadith is a clear proof that writing an interest-based transaction and giving witness to it is also Haram, and helping in it is also Haram.

And now my dear ones, listen to how big this sin is. The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: Riba has seventy levels, and the lowest of them is equal to a man committing adultery with his own mother.

In another narration, it is said that eating one Dirham of Riba knowingly is more severe than committing adultery thirty-six times.

So my brothers, save yourselves and save your families from this terrible sin.
